WSFFM INTERNATIONAL WOMEN 4X4 OUTDOOR ADVENTURE 2009

SG.KAMPAR, GOPENG,PERAK

30TH OCTOBER 2009 – 1ST NOVEMBER 2009

 

Day 1

Management team (Ewest Outdoor Sdn.Bhd) arrived at Stadium Shah Alam at 5.00 am followed by 4WD at 5.30 am. Pick up goodies from WSFFM office, then set up registration table and hung banners on site. At 6.00 am, WSFFM Exco Members arrived to register participants and gave away goodies. Most participants signed-up before 7.00 am except for 3 paxs who arrived just minutes later.

 

 

2 buses arrived at Shah Alam Stadium at 6.45 am and assigned with groupings. Buses left for Gopeng at 7.20 am after prayers conducted by marshal. A briefing was conducted by marshal onboard of bus “A” to prepare participants for event and changed over to bus “B” at Behrang rest stop.

The buses arrived at Gopeng pick up point at 10.00 am. Participants were then ferried to Adeline’s Rest House by 4WD and trucks “Bangla” style. They arrived at resort at 10.30 am, followed by check in and breakfast.

Ice breaker was conducted by marshals at 11.00 am for half hour and participants got ready for their activities. Group 1&2 went for 4WD, group 3 to Wet Abseiling and group 4 to Water Rafting at 12.00 pm. Group 1&2 stop by Kg.Ulu Groh about half hour for a shot donation ceremony. The group proceeded with 4WD activity and the SS session at the abandoned hydro plant. The last car and other groups arrived at the resort between 2.00 pm to 3.00 pm for lunch.

Due to the impending rain, all 4WD were instructed to cross the metal bridge at 2.30 pm leading to the Orang Asli settlement. By 3.00 pm, all participants from group 3&4 crossed the river via the hanging metal bridge just next to the water-swollen metal bridge. The group helped repairing another broken bridge near hydro plant. SS ended at 7.00 pm and the last car arrived at the resort at 7.30 pm.

Dinner was served from 6.45 pm to 8.00 pm, marshal were setting up the obstacles course for Explorace at the open air area. Due to heavy rain, Explorace was moved into the dining area with some modifications to the course after consultation with the exco members present. Explorace ended at midnight.

 

 Day 2

Aerobic warm up session was conducted after breakfast and followed by a short briefing of the day’s activities by marshal. All activities went well and on scheduled on day 2.

Rain poured down again in the evening while participants were having their Garden Party BBQ dinner serenade by a saxophonist. Participants joined in the party with dance and song. Power at the resort went out for about half hour due to lightning strikes in one of the sub-power station nearby. The later activities; Talent Time and Disco were moved back into dining hall. Day ended at 15 minutes passed midnight after a complaint from neighbouring resort.

 

Day 3

Activities ran as scheduled in the morning. Group 1 got back late and had their lunch at 1.30 pm, refresh and packed. The Asli Craft started after 2.30 pm without the full group followed by certificates, prize presentations and closing ceremony addresses by group representatives, Edarwest Outdoor and WSFFM which ended at 3.30 pm

Group left the resort around 4.00 pm by trucks provided by the resort. They stop for about half hour at the orphanage home to hand over some donation items and before heading to Gopeng Town. Buses were waiting to pick up the participants and left Gopeng Town at 5.00 pm just before another heavy downfall. The buses arrived safely at Shah Alam Stadium at 7.30 pm just when the rain stopped.
